We’re excited to introduce a newer member of the Washington High School Alumni Association Board, who brings a love of writing and a fresh perspective to our communications—Andrea Lohr!

Graduation Year and Activities:
I graduated from Washington High School in 2006. During my time at WHS, I was a proud Alto 1 in Women’s Chorus and Advanced Choir. I was a dedicated member of the Hi-Times staff, writing a column my senior year. I also served as an Ohio Reads tutor, volunteered with Teen Court, and participated in several clubs including The Quill, Pep Club, Culture Committee, French Club, and Obie Friends. I was also on the Senior Advisory Board, which makes me a point person for Class of 2006 reunions.
Inspiration to Join the Board:
I joined the board by invitation. I’ve always loved writing, and while most of my writing these days is private, friends remembered my time with Hi-Times and suggested I take over The Alumni Newsletter. Bob has led the newsletter for so long it’s a bit intimidating, but I’m excited to bring a fresh perspective to this vital piece of alumni communication.
Role on the Board:
I am a junior member of the board, having officially joined just a few months ago. At this time, my main focus is The Newsletter, but I look forward to exploring additional roles and projects in the future!
Favorite Memory or Fun Fact:
One of my favorite memories is from elementary school, dreaming of being in Advanced Choir and performing Carol of the Bells for Tour of Schools. Making Advanced Choir was a dream come true, and even though we didn’t perform Carol of the Bells while I was in the group, I still vividly remember walking through the halls before our performance at York, seeing Mrs. Blackstone and Mr. Spencer, and feeling proud of making my first dream a reality.
Advice for Students and Alumni:
To students: High school is exactly what you make it, so make the most of it! You’ll never again be this close to adulthood without all the boring responsibilities.
To alumni: While you can never go back to high school, you can always come back home. Massillon is evolving, but the spirit of Massillon remains the same. Come back and visit—preferably for your class reunion!
Board Experience:
I’m new to the board, but I’m excited to help wherever I can! I look forward to contributing to an already incredible team of alumni who continue to serve as a strong resource for our community and beyond.
Thank you, Andrea, for your enthusiasm and dedication to the WHS Alumni Association!
