Today we are proud to feature Rob Maylor, Class of 1982! Rob is a lifelong Massillonian whose love for the Tigers runs deep — from serving his country, to raising an incredible family, to giving countless years back to the football program, including serving as Booster Club President during the unforgettable 2023 State Championship season. His dedication, heart, and community pride truly embody what it means to be a Tiger.

Q: What year did you graduate from Massillon Washington High School?
A: 1982
Q: What activities, clubs, or sports were you involved in during your time at WHS?
A: DECA and Football
Q: What is one of your favorite memories from your high school years?
A: It would have to be beating that team out east in their own stadium in a playoff game… and just being on the football team and all the rally’s and events that surrounded being on the team.
Q: What have you gone on to achieve since graduation (career, education, military service, community involvement, etc.)?
A: After school I served in the Army as a tank gunner on a M60 A3 main battle tank for six years, then went to Stark State College for Automotive Engineering. I was an auto tech for 25 years, and since then I’ve been a service department/commercial vehicle manager at Ford for the last 12 years plus. Spent many years coaching my son thru youth sports all the way to the high school. I am also heavily involved with the Tiger football team for about that same time span. I’ve been blessed to be able to coach here, football and basketball, and also be involved directly with the varsity team doing everything from Sideliners to Jr Board, Sr Board, then to my most fun position I have had… Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club President for the 2023 State Championship season, and I am still active today.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: Raising 3 incredible kids… one is a dentist, Robbie, father to my granddaughter Hazel and a Army Major. One is a Air Force mom, Kaylee, and mom to my twin grandsons Parker and Sullivan. And one is my incredibly talented son Anthony who is currently in college. Also being a lifelong Massillonian with my wife Renee and being able to give back to my community thru the football team.
Q: How did your time at Massillon help prepare you for life after high school?
A: Never give up, never quit attitude was instilled in me by my parents and being a part of the football team.
Q: What advice would you give to current Tigers?
A: Enjoy every second, you only get to do high school once. Make that journey as memorable as you possibly can, be involved in as much as you can that makes you happy. I wish I had been more involved in some things.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with fellow alumni?
A: It’s awesome to see you all at the games and around town. This place means the world to me and I love sharing it with everyone I can and hope you all feel the same… Massillon Always.
